It was inspired per Statue of Liberty, and was constructed inside exclusively quatern years away from styrofoam and papier-mâché by students of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. A students decided to produce a statue when big when conceivable thus the food and drug administration would exist as unable to dismantle it. The food and drug administration would either stand to kill it, showing their anti-democratic nature and severity, or even leave it standing.
In May 30, 1989, it was erected in Tiananmen Square, facing the big photo of Mao Zedong posted on Tiananmen Gate. A Chinese People's Liberation Army destroyed the statue during the June 4 protests.
